Fried Bat Brains

Heat is causing Australian bats to fry

While people are experiencing extreme cold in the Western hemisphere lately, Australians are going through the exact opposite. It's so hot in Australia right now that many people and animals are suffering where temperatures have reached 117 degrees. That's a record high since the 1930s for the country. It's so bad that many animals are dying due to dehydration, but some are enduring an even worse fate.

The flying fox of Australia is experiencing the heat so badly that the creatures' brains are actually frying and killing the creatures. There have been hundreds of them found with this terrible condition. Since the bats can't regulate their temperatures in this extreme weather, they are succumbing to it instead.

Have you heard of any other terrible stories about animals in this heat wave? Share them in the chat.
