Woodpecker-Riding Weasel

This changes everything

Humans are no longer the masters of flight! (Okay, birds and bats were really the masters of flight anyway, not us, but we're talking animals who use means beyond their own biology to fly!) Remember the movie Epic where everyone rides birds or bugs around to fly? Apparently weasels do the same thing. The next thing we know, they'll be wearing acorn helmets!

This photo of a weasel flying on a woodpecker's back is incredible. It also spawns so many plot bunnies. Did the bird owe the weasel a favor? Was this part of some mythic tale or fable to teach humanity a lesson? It's right out of the pages of Aesop's stories and it truly makes me wonder how many other animals fly in this manner.

Have you seen any other weird animal stories or photos this week? Share them here in the chat!
